I finally caught a full, real episode of The Apprentice. Okay, now I get it. With a full hour to watch the budding moguls talk big, miscalculate, and back-stab, you do get into the rhythm of it, and there are some touches here and there (such as The Donald's bravura arrival at the casino tonight) that suggest, blessedly, that there's an underlying joke that Mark Burnett is in on but that Trump himself isn't. I can't see it ever fully displacing Survivor in my heart, though. It's just a lot easier for me to relate to people willing to risk malnutrition a million miles away from civilization than to relate to anyone who claims to want to work for Donald Trump.
